The 2017-2018 season is Mike Flentje's 11th as the head coach of the Silver Lake College women's basketball team.
The Manitowoc native attended UW-Platteville and majored in architecture. His Laker teams have won more than 140 games (125 of those wins have come in the past six years). He also served as the Silver Lake College Athletics Director for more than three years, and he started Team Silver Lake for the Relay for Life cancer
Coach Flentje has coached basketball at various levels for 40 years. Before coming to Silver Lake College he coached at Manitowoc Lincoln High School, where he compiled a 65-62 record.
Coach Flentje helped lead Silver Lake College to a spot in the USCAA Division 1 National Championships in March 2016 - its first berth in a national championship tournament in two decades. The team was seeded No. 4 in the tournament. He followed that up by guiding the Lakers to the USCAA National Championships in March 2017 as they ended up advancing to the semifinals.
He has been married for 47 years to his wife, Linda. They have three children (Carrie, Rebecca and Matthew) and six grandchildren. His hobbies include working on his collector cars and woodworking.
Mike Quistorf, a native of Manitowoc, has been an assistant coach on the Silver Lake College women's basketball team from 2007 to 2009 and again from 2011 until now.
Coach Quistorf has coached basketball for various schools in the Manitowoc area since 1984.
"I enjoy teaching fundamentals at all levels of basketball," Coach Quistorf said. "I like to see the girls develop their skills as the season progresses."
One of the highlights of his coaching career was helping the Lakers earn a trip to the USCAA National Championships in Pennsylvania to cap both the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 seasons.
Coach Quistorf and his wife, Susan, have three children (Christina and her husband, Mark Simmer; Nicole and her husband, Rich Firth; and David Quistorf and his wife, Abbey); and five grandchildren (Brett, Marina, Jake, Skyeler and Ben).
Coach Quistorf enjoys fishing, biking, golf, crossword puzzles and watching his grandchildren participate in sports,
Catie Minter, a sophomore at Silver Lake College, is in her second season as a manager for the Silver Lake College women's basketball team.
Her parents are Daniel and Julie Minter, and she's majoring in Graphic Design and Psychology. Photography and making YouTube videos are some of her favorite hobbies.
